by Lord Krishna, the bowl which never runs out of food.
- The Krishna-Sudama Legend is probably one of the
most significant. On this day, Sudama visited his friend Krishna requesting for
some financial help. Krishna welcomed
Sudama benevolently. Having nothing to offer Krishna than a pouch of Poha
(beaten rice), Sudama presented the bag with utter shame. However, Krishna
whole-heartedly accepted his gift and relished having it. Sudama could no
longer ask for anything else and returned home empty-handed. On his return,
Sudama found his hut transformed into a royal palace and his family standing in
royal clothes. He then realized that it was a boon given by Lord Krishna who
gave Sudama more than what he had asked for.
